In a lot of cases, when developing apps for clients we get requested to add video to the app. Most clients want streaming video because it can make the app experience very dynamic. The biggest question we get asked – What kind of video format should the app use?
The simple answer is either YouTube or HTML5. Both Android and iPhone use web browsers within the application to run video which include codex to run YouTube. This means that code can simply be pasted into the app and run natively on the devices. What about other video formats? Well, you can try to muscle them into the program but it will take more time, which means more money. Honestly, when a client has third-party video, we ask if they have it on YouTube.
Video can make a mobile app exciting, so if you are planning on possibly having an app our suggestion is to take that video and place it on YouTube.
